What's Happening at LHS?

Prom is Friday, March 30th at Twin Lakes Country Club. Tickets are on sale now. Ticket price is $30 per person until March 16th. After this date the price will increase to $40 each. All out of district dates have to be approved. Out of district forms are on the counter in the office. Your date must be under the age of 21. All fees must be cleared to purchase a ticket.
There will be a Drum Major interest meeting Thursday, March 1st, right after school in the band room. Any band member interested in auditioning to be drum major for the 2012 Marching Band season should make plans to attend.
There will be a Color Guard interest meeting on Tuesday, March 6th, right after school in the band room. This meeting is open to anyone who is interested in auditioning to be a part of the Marching Vikings' 2012 Color Guard team.
The Social Studies Department is sponsoring a History Day this Friday. The faculty and staff will dress in historical or multi-cultural outfits and the students will be able to guess what character or persona the teacher is attempting to portray. The top three students to guess correctly will receive a prize. Ballots will be available in the office Friday morning and should be turned into Mrs. McClain or MB Rogers by 1st lunch.
Track try-out today from 3:15 - 4:00. All students are to meet in First Sgt. Jackson's classroom at 3:15. All students must have a current school year physical on file at the high school.
SENIORS: Senior supplies will be delivered on Monday, March 5th. Supplies may be picked up during your lunch. No personal checks will be accepted on delivery day.

Latta High School congratulates Mrs. Davis!
Mrs. Davis, LHS math teacher, was selected as the
2011-2012 Teacher of the Year at Latta High School.
She was also selected as the
2011-2012 Dillon County School District 3
Teacher of the Year.
U. S. News and World Report
2010-2011
Latta High School was selected by U.S. News and World Report as one of "America's Best High Schools" again. This means that LHS is in the top ten percent of high schools in the nation. Nineteen other S.C. High Schools made the list this year. The selection was made by using data from more than 21,000 public high schools from across the country. Congratulations Vikings!
